Pissing in the bowl

Still doing the washing up from big dinner for friends last night.

There was once gazpacho in this bowl.  And very good it was too.

On my way out.  Need a break from the kitchen today - cooking tapas.

Pick a pic

Choosing pictures to hang on the wall of the shop.

I'd already picked the best ones by 13.57.  Not that they were all that much better than what's on show here....

Some DIY required?

You'd think they'd be able to keep the place looking a bit fresher, wouldn't you?

Rush

At 13.57 I was in a cinema.  So I took this photo before I went in....

And this one on the way out....

Good film.  But I did laugh/groan a lot at the 'Hollywoodised' bits.  May be easier to watch if you know nothing about the real world subject matter!

In the top ten

I've been looking back at my top ten events of the Edinburgh Fringe last month and this man, this show, is right up there with the best.  Near genius.

It was their fault

There have been any number of days when my supposed 13.57 shot was taken a few minutes later.  Or maybe after a couple of hours.  I've been too busy with other things, in a show, serving customers, whatever.  Or just a bit forgetful, despite the reminder from my phone.

Today, at 13.57, I'd just sat down with friends, beer to hand, to watch a gig.  We hadn't seen the friends for ages, and after the (excellent) music they came back to ours for food, drink, chat.  And only when they'd gone did I remember what I'd forgotten.  As it were.

So in the true spirit of accepting full responsibility for my actions I'm going to blame the band.  Here's their tea towel (yes, honestly).

And here's a picture of my looking suitably contrite.  I'll do better tomorrow.  Maybe.

Atkinson

Part of the recently refurbuished and reopened Atkinson (previously the Arts Centre) in Southport.

Going to a gig there tomorrow.

TV Bank

Old CRT tellys still sell well.  Add a digibox for £10 and you're connected.

There's a recession on.

We'll sell any old thing

Like this elderly sewing machine.

I sold one even older than that for £200 just before this was taken.  Big money for a charity shop.

That Laurel and Hardy moment

These guys are trying to shift a piano.

I joined in to help.  Heavy buggers, aren't they?

Managed to restrict myself to around 20 purchases.

Had lunch in an American-style place on the edge of Leominster.

OK? Just about!

Memories are made of Greece

We bought this vase on Kos twenty years ago during our first ever holiday together.

Couldn't part with it.

Cruise Liners Wanted

Now being promoted as Edinburgh's cruise liner destination.   And why not?  Britannia just around the corner, a UNESCO World Heritage City up the hill and the world's greatest arts festival every year.

Don't mention the weather....

(Actually, it's been a gorgeous summer)

Memories are made of floppiness

Helping out an elderly friend resolve some IT problems and surprised to find that these old things were part of the solution.  Not sure how many years it's been since I last used one.  Or Win 98....

Mela

Great event, but sadly we chose the wrong day (out of two....).  High winds disrupted the programme and, along with a slate toned sky, made for a chillier time than we've been used to.

Still, there's always next year.
